Why We Started Till

The crop insurance industry is massive, essential—and stuck in the past.


Despite $18 billion in annual premiums and federal mandates covering 87% of U.S. row crops, most crop insurance agencies still run on spreadsheets, manual paperwork, and seasonal burnout. Agents spend too much time behind a desk and not enough time with growers. At Till, we saw a better way, and built it.


Till exists to serve the modern crop insurance agent and the modern farmer. We help agents earn more, work more efficiently, and spend more time with growers. That means automating the servicing process—from acreage and production reporting to claims and compliance—so agents can focus on relationships, not red tape.


We didn’t come at this cold. Before launching Till, our founders worked at a family run agency in the Midwest, processing corn and soybean MPCI policies, building a lead generation engine, and learning the business from the ground up. What we found was clear: strong agents were underserved. We saw the opportunity to build a next generation business with America’s most talented agricultural risk managers.


Crop insurance agencies are some of America’s most needed — and strongest — businesses: federally backed, highly recurring, carrier-agnostic, and uncorrelated to the broader economy. 80%+ of eligible acres are insured via the federal crop insurance program every year, exceeding 300 million acres. But many agents aren’t motivated to do anything more than renew ever year, so most agencies have gotten away with being under-resourced and operationally outdated, focused primarily on corn, soybeans and wheat. At Till, we’re solving that by giving motivated agents the infrastructure to scale their books, and the economics to benefit directly.


We launched in 2024 with our first three agents. We now operate nationwide, distributing policies for three major Approved Insurance Providers. Agents who join Till receive the highest commission share of any agency we’ve encountered—plus marketing support, back-office automation, and the freedom to grow on their terms. No non-competes. No bureaucracy. Just tools and upside.
