Till is a team of agents, farmers and financial analysts with experience in insurance, investing, and marketing at organizations such as Syngenta, Farmers Business Network, and Google.
James Bennett
Founding Agent
I hail from Livermore, CA where I've spent the past 14 years working in the insurance industry. My roles have spanned from loss control to underwriting and finally as an agent focusing solely on crop insurance for the past 7 years. This experience across multiple roles within the industry gives me a unique knowledge base from which I can advise clients on the optimal risk strategy.
Besides crop insurance, my family and I own and operate 7Z Livestock. We enjoy raising sheep that get shown all over the country and working with the next generation of agriculturalists.

I'm a fourth-generation cattle rancher from southeastern Colorado with deep roots in agriculture and a strong commitment to family and community. I hold a finance degree from Colorado State University and have spent the past decade as managing director at a Colorado Springs investment advisory firm. As a crop insurance agent with 8+ years of experience, I'm a passionate about risk management strategies that support long-term farm sustainability.
I live on my family’s ranch with my wife, Jayci, and our four children, and am active in local youth sports and nonprofit leadership.

Born and raised in Idaho, I've always had a deep respect for the land and the people who work it. Since 2014, I've specialized in crop insurance, building a reputation for delivering dependable risk management solutions to farmers and ranchers across the region. With over a decade of industry experience, I combine practical expertise with a genuine passion for protecting agricultural operations of all sizes. My hands-on approach and focus on long-term relationships make me a trusted resource in the ag community.

Outside of work, I enjoy camping in Idaho’s backcountry, riding my RZR through rugged terrain, and spending time with my grandchildren as they care for animals, grow food, and explore the world with wonder.
Tyler Hoopes

I'm a fourth-generation potato farmer and licensed crop insurance agent. Since 2017, I've helped growers across Idaho, Washington, and Utah protect their operations with practical, personalized risk management strategies. My firsthand farming experience gives me a deep understanding of the challenges producers face and how to navigate them.
My wife Necia and I live in Idaho with our four children, enjoying the state’s outdoor lifestyle: snowmobiling in the winter, riding dirt bikes in the summer, and staying rooted in the agricultural community we call home.
Bret Gum

I grew up on a farm and ranch in southwest Kansas, where I developed a strong appreciation for agriculture and the people who make it possible. I obtained my Agriculture Economics degree from Kansas State University and have been working in crop insurance since 2016. Understanding the challenges that come with farming on the great plains has given me the opportunity to help farmers manage their risk in an ever-changing environment.

My fiancée, Hannah, and I now live in Colorado, where we enjoy golfing, skiing, and spending time outdoors with our two dogs Bear and Ollie.
Kort Schank

I've been helping growers protect their crops for more than 13 years as a crop insurance agent in Washington state. Over the course of my career, I've built long-standing relationships with tree fruit farmers - focusing mainly on apples, cherries and pears - and have developed extensive expertise with Whole Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP). I especially value getting to know the people and families behind each farm, and take pride in finding the right coverage to fit their needs.

When I'm not working with growers, I enjoy life on the water - whether boating, camping, or simply spending quality time outdoors with my family.
Brett Wightman

I grew up on my family farm in Edinburg, VA, and completed my degree in Agriculture Economics at Virginia Tech in 2008. I began my career in the field of agriculture with Syngenta Crop Protection.
After helping growers and retailers throughout the region troubleshoot crop protection solutions and navigating seed decisions for almost six years, I decided to switch gears and begin my crop insurance career. I serve farmers in VA, WV, NC, MD, TN, MO, KY, and KS.
Callum Woolley
Founding Partner
Callum brings a background in climate risk management, with experience at Google and the World Bank. Before starting Till, Callum led AI workflow teams focused on pricing the risk of weather-related perils. At Till, Callum is dedicated to improving the agent experience through streamlined application, PR and AR processing workflows, as well as FCIC policy analysis.
Callum holds a graduate degree in agricultural economics from the University of Cambridge.
Tom Cole
Founding Partner
Tom comes from a farming family on his mother’s side. During college he worked at a farmer’s market in New Orleans, and after graduating joined Millstein & Co. and then Cyrus Capital, where he invested in corporate credit insurance.
Tom holds a BA in political science from Duke University, where he was a Robertson Scholar, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Prior to Till he worked on helping US landowners issue carbon credits.
